1033 Renal Colic Emergency Management - an Audit Cycle

Abstract Aim This audit aims to assess whether the management of renal colic diagnosed in an emergency department setting is adhering current recommendations by British Association Urological Surgeons and National Institute for Health Care Excellence. Method Two cycles were completed. Patients retrospectively identified using online clerking system use department. excluded if returning hospital last 3 months, patient had a complex urological history, or CT scan was negative. Outcomes assessed imaging within 14 hours assessment, inpatient referral criteria being met, NSAIDs prescribed. Interventions included updated NSAID dosing pathway health board. Results The first cycle conducted 15 patients post exclusion, 9 excluded. 87% prescribed, 93% 100% meeting referred, 67% no referred. second 6 10 50% Conclusions despite low numbers highlighted need update clinicians keeping with national guidance. In addition, future audits it has shown better identifier would be all receiving kidneys, ureters, bladder.
